STEVENSVILLE

Addition & Renovation

Stevensville 4-8 Grade SchoolBuilding
and Music Center
Stevensville, Montana

This project for the Stevensville School system has been a long time coming for the young students of the district. The existing school buildings for the 4th-8th graders, lunch room, band room and choir rooms are over 100 years old and beyond what is reasonable for a renovation project.   This project included the removal of three buildings entailing full coordination with the functional school during construction.

The new school building is 54,000 square feet including 25 classrooms, special education rooms, a wood shop, computer labs, and a library with a mezzanine.  The design utilizes modern materials in an institutional design that is configured to maximize daylight for all of the spaces.

The new Music Center facility is 17,000 square feet with band and choir rooms with special acoustic designs. This new building also house a new kitchen and lunch room/ gym that services the entire school campus.

A 10 million dollar school construction bond that was approved by the voters of the Elementary School District funded this project.  The building were completed on schedule with the school building being opened to start the 2011-12 school year and the Music Center occupied in January 2012.

Renovation/Addition

503 Edith Street
Missoula, Montana

We are currently working with the Missoula Catholic Schools on both their Elementary School and High School Projects.  Although the former Roosevelt School had been used for a number of years by the Catholic Schools for their elementary school needs, until the recent purchase of the property was it feasible to tackle the renovation of the building and delve into the idea of adding on to the building to enable future growth.

The schools needs include updating and renovating the existing spaces, adding specialty rooms (Art Room, Music Room, Learning Center, and Library), a new cafeteria and kitchen, and a chapel. Also important to this project is a new administration area near the main school entry.

This project is currently in the Design and Fund-Raising Stage.

The project required two additional classrooms to enhance the schools existing facility and offer new educational programs.  Another requirement was to design the project efficiently enough so this private school could raise 100% of the funds required to build.  The project consists of a new freestanding art building and another building with two new classrooms.  Additionally the project includes a new parking lot and parent drop-off area, play ground, courtyard to connect the existing buildings and extensive landscaping.  The designs of the buildings sit in juxtaposition to the existing historic forms, which presently dominate the campus.  The vanishing facades and textures highlight as well as welcome their new form into this vernacular.

This project was completed in the fall of 2002
